Dear Jan,
The shadows are growing longer.

And the hair is growing* shorter.
I don’t think the latter really has much to do with Solstice, but my hair seems to be celebrating by jumping up in to curls. The departed tresses will make their way to Locks of Love, a small gift on my part to start the season.
Love,
Ellen
P.S. I know. It isn’t growing shorter, it got cut shorter. Poetic license.

What a wonderful gift for someone! I have always wished my hair would grow long enough for Locks of Love, but alas, it won’t. I love the curls!
An early happy solstice to both of you!

YAY! for Winter Solstice coming soon… again :^)
and you donating your hair! I’m really glad to see another woman ‘of a certain age’ doing this, I’ve been letting mine grow out to do the same, I figure another 6 months and I’ll be ‘there’. Sadly, my hair won’t curl up like yours after the cutting. Your hair/ curls… beautiful… and added bonus… mo betta to see that gorgeous sweater design!

When I saw the pictures, I was so hoping…and you did! Thank you!
I was on chemo for six years, and when they started me on it, I expected I’d just have to have bought hair. But it stayed in. Then after being very ill last winter, and being taken off the no-longer-effective chemo, my hair fell out by the fistfuls. It is now growing back in, mullet-ish spikes above the waves that are left.
I never did get a wig, but the subject is close to my heart and people who donate their hair have my utmost gratitude. Thank you so much for doing that.

Wow, that’s a lot of hair. I donate mine every few years too, but it always astonishes me at how long it gets. I think it’s great!

I like the new haircut! Feels good to chop it all off for a good reason, doesn’t it? One of the reasons that I’m thinking about letting mine get long again. =)

So I guess it’s a good thing I haven’t mailed your Christmas gifts yet. Gives me time to substitute for the lovingly hand made barrette.
Innocenti!! Just kidding. I did think about that as a gift though. Something kept me from doing it. I’ll be keeping mine long for a while longer, but when it goes, LoL is already targeted.

wow! That is so great that you did that, you have(had) such great long hair-and its hard to tell from the back but it looks pretty cute. Must feel freeing to cut off so much hair all at once.

I love the shorter hair! I’ve always wanted some natural curl like that.
