Oh cool! We were talking about doing just that, but didn’t have a clear shot of the sun (it’s been raining ever since we got here…we apparently got lucky with that first day). Now I can say I’ve actually seen Venus in transit!
Was that not the COOLEST thing ever? We headed up to a local hill with the huge binoculars swathed in special sun-viewing film, and got a great view (sunspots and all). And all I could think was, that tiny dot is a PLANET. And it’s the size of the EARTH. And it’s two times closer to the earth than it is to the sun. Dude. The sun is unutterably HUGE. I don’t think I’d ever quite gotten such a gut feeling of the distances between these bodies, nor that we live close to a STAR. Amazing.

Oh that is so cool! Thanks for sharing the photo — was it visible around the world (e.g., the Western Pacific?)

WOW! Cool! I went outside with eclipse glasses but just couldn’t see a thing.

YAY!
It was rainy here, so Venus transited unseen.
I’m SO glad to have a chance to see her this morning!!!
