He came to us in 2001, probably about a year to a year and a half old, off the streets of Naples. Every day he was with us he showed us unconditional love. He moved with us from Europe, to northern Virginia, to Norfolk, to Colorado, back to Virginia and finally to the farm where he loved to run and lie in the sun. Today cancer caught up with him and we had to say goodbye. We laid him to rest in one of his favorite spots. We already miss him so much…the sweetest dog ever…the best dog ever.
Sleep in peace, Max. Good boy.

Max woke up every morning, looked around, and celebrated that his good luck at being adopted by you and Dale was not a dream. He was one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever known.
Max, I am glad you got to leave memories at the farm which Jan and Dale, and all of us, will cherish for decades.

I am so sorry about Max.
Having to say goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things.

I usually just lurk, but will surface long enough to offer my sympathy. Losing a dear dog is hard; I’m so sorry.

Max will live forever in your hearts and who knows Max may just ’send’ you another dog. We, too, were blessed by a dog ‘finding’ us. A couple of our more esoteric friends have said, when the dog finds you, you have had a relationship with that dog in a past life. Don’t know about that, but just like you, know that we couldn’t have a better, sweeter dog.

That’s quite a life story. It’s not every stray dog that becomes an international traveler!

What a beautiful dog. What a sweet dog. I’m so glad you got to have him, so glad he got to see the farm, and I’m so sorry you have to say goodbye.

Wow. What a tribute. Already your beloved farm has a new layer of meaning and incorporated memory. The photo is worth a thousand words, too. Some dogs are noble; some aren’t. It would appear Max was.

Oh, Jan, I am so very sorry. It sounds to me like Max was lucky to have found you, and that you were lucky to find him - which is exactly as it should be.
